Introduction

The Internet is an outstanding tool for those who would like to sell goods or services, transmit information, and instruct learners. Web browsers have a number of features, which allow them to make financial transactions secure, deliver visually appealing documents, and integrate a number of other media, like audio and video. Consequently, professionals in numerous fields are becoming intrigued with its many uses.

Instructors are finding the Internet to be an excellent medium. A considerable body of research supports its use, too. Instructional media has been shown to provide a number of positive characteristics, such as fatigue management, memory support, and the ability to organize learning content (Karadimos, 2004).

Insight for Instructors Since it has been shown that the Internet is a highly effective medium for imparting instruction, it’s not a surprise why so many educators already use it and that more educators will be using it in the future (Koen, 2004). In fact, the more access teachers have to computers, it has been shown they are more likely to use them for classroom activities (NCES, 2000).

Therefore, in order to further encourage the use of the Internet as a learning medium, this tutorial exists as a means for:

learning how to design effective web pages, and
gaining strategies to recognize effective web pages.
